Typography Booklet

Concept

The assignment for this project was to redesign a section from a typography textbook for a magazine format, while also designing an original cover.

Goals

For the mock-article spreads, my intention was to redesign a textbook section in a more interesting format.  With the cover image, I was restricted to two items that I had to collect from the outdoors, while also connecting it to typography in some way.  I decided to design my cover around a play on the word “Bleed”, which I felt would help the design to stand out.  In contrast to my previous work, the colors are more muted, as this was a more serious work.

Significance

While most of my projects have been fairly straightforward, the cover image in particular shows off a more conceptual style of design.  This shows that I am capable of both fulfilling the brief of an assignment
(creating organized article spreads) while including my own

unique twist.
